A girl student of a private university in the capital’s Jigatala area has been sexually assaulted. Hazaribagh police have arrested a man named Mahbub Morshed in this connection after receiving a call on 999.
A press release issued by the National Emergency Service 999 on Sunday (June 12) states that the father of a university student near Japan-Bangladesh Friendship Hospital at Jhigatala of Dhaka’s Hazaribagh police station called 999 at 7 am on Sunday and informed that his daughter was walking. On the way from home to Jhigatala, an eave-teaser tried to grab his daughter. Hearing her daughter’s screams, the people in the neighborhood chased the man while he was trying to flee. Meanwhile, he got his daughter’s phone and appeared at the scene. The locals then chased the boy and caught him.
The girl’s father called 999 and asked for help. Later, a team of Hazaribagh Police Station went to the spot and arrested the boy.
A case has been filed against the accused under the Women and Child Abuse Prevention Act.
