Authorities at the National Museum of Science have emphasized the use of the latest technology in coding chemical and hazardous substances and extinguishing fires.
The call was made on the occasion of World Environment Day on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 titled “What to do to prevent chemical pollution and accidents”.
On the occasion, the speakers highlighted the issue of chemical accident at Sitakunda in Chattogram and emphasized the storage of goods, transportation of goods and waste management in a scientific manner.
Meanwhile, Director General of the National Museum of Science and Technology Mohammad Munir Chowdhury said, “It is advisable to have special security measures in port management and depot management. In particular, coding of chemical and hazardous substances, safe storage in specialized areas, issuance of warning signs, implementation of modern and scientific firefighting systems are essential. Students and government officials in every government office and educational institution must be provided with firefighting, fire accident prevention and self-defense training.”
To this end, “Science Museum authorities are conserving two separate reservoirs for this purpose, have modernized the electrical system and are constantly providing accident prevention training,” he added.
Environmental Olympiads, environmental science lectures and quiz competitions were organized at the National Museum of Science and Technology to raise awareness of environment, pollution free living, protection of trees and biodiversity and awareness of students and young generation about pollution disasters and loss. 60 students of Sabujbagh Government College participated in it.
The winning students were given saplings as a memento at the event and the recipients were encouraged to plant trees on the roofs of their houses, on the verandas and to provide bird food.
