Telephone numbers under 21 telephone exchanges in four districts are being upgraded to 11 digits to ensure improved and modern services. BTCL General Manager Mir Morshed said that as part of the updated digital transformation, BTCL’s MOTN project is working to update telephone numbers consists of 8, 9 and 10 digits.
He said, in order to update the numbers of land phones in Boardbazar, Konabari, Salna, Rajendrapur, Kaliakair and Sreepur of Gazipur district; Ghorashal, Raipura, Madhabadi of Narsingdi district; and Ghatail, Sakhipur, Mirzapur and Bhuapur of Tangail district, new numbers are being issued keeping in view the last digits of the old numbers as much as possible.
Similarly, the numbers of Bakshiganj, Sarishabari, Melandah, Madarganj, Islampur, Dewanganj of Jamalpur District; and Sribardi and Nakla telephone exchanges of Sherpur district are also covered under this program.
A list of old and new numbers is provided on BTCL’s website www.btcl.gov.bd for the convenience of the customers. Along with the change of number, the new number will also be communicated to the customers through phone call.
It is pertinent to note that to call BTCL from BTCL or BTCL number from mobile, you have to dial the changed 11 digits. However, if you want to call a changed number from abroad, you have to add ’88’ and press 13 digits.
