The University Rover Challenge is being held in the United States. The results will be announced on June 4. However, in the meantime, the United International University (UIU) Mars Rover team of Bangladesh is in the second position in University Rover Challenge 2022 organized by Mars Society. Rakib Hasan, a student of the same department, is leading the team under the supervision of Akib Zaman, Lecturer, CSE Department, UIU.
This time five teams from Bangladesh took part in the final competition.
Out of 99 universities in the world, UIU team scored 90.92 out of 100 to be selected in the World Final.
Akib was the team leader of URC 2021-MIST Mongol Barota and topped the URC 2021 Virtual Final.
The UIU Mars Rover team consists of more than 25 students from the UIU Robotics Club from a variety of educational backgrounds, including computer science, electrical science and business.
Other sub-teams are led by Deep Chakraborty (Vice Lead and Management Sub-Team Lead), Abid Hossain (Mechanical Sub-Team Lead), Ahmed Junaid Tanim (Electrical Sub-Team Lead), Abdullah Al Masood (Software Sub-Team Lead), TM Al Anam (Communication Sub-Team). And Zidane Talukder (Science Subteam lead).
The University Rover Challenge (URC) is the world’s leading robotics competition for college students. Held annually in the southern Utah desert in the United States. URC challenges student teams to design and build next-generation Mars rovers that will one day work with astronauts to explore the red planet.
