A workshop titled ‘Idea Portfolio Startups Lessons Learning and Way Forward’ was organized by the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) of the Department of Information and Communication Technology with 10 emerging startups out of the grant-aided startups under the “Innovation and Entrepreneur Development Academy Establishment (iDEA) Project” project. The workshop was organized on Thursday, May 19 at the iDEA Project office at ICT Tower, Agargaon, Dhaka.
The participants briefed on the current status, challenges and achievements of the participating startups in the workshop. The startups participating in the 3rd phase are: Bloodman, Alter Youth, Alik, Truck Lagbe, Scoot, Best Aid, Khela Hobe, ZTech, Patra and Barikoi Technologies Limited.
NM Zeaul Alam, Senior Secretary, Department of Information and Communication Technology was present as the Chief Guest on the occasion. He said that the advancement of technology has touched the whole world and Bangladesh is also moving forward. He further said that various activities have already been taken and are being taken to make the people of the country, especially the young generation, proficient in information technology in the implementation of Smart Bangladesh. Finally, he said that information technology is bringing a new dimension to the economic activities of Bangladesh.
Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan, BCC Executive Director (Grade-1) was present as a special guest on the occasion. He said the startups of the iDEA project are doing well. Many startups are already bringing in foreign investment which is really commendable. He further said that one of the successful development philosophy of the present government is Digital Bangladesh. A positive trend in the case of digital economy is also being observed in Bangladesh.
Project Director and Joint Secretary of iDEA Project Md. Altaf Hossain presided over the function. He said the iDEA project has far-reaching plans for the welfare of startups. So far, 261 startups have been approved to provide pre-seed grants of BDT 10 lakh from the iDEA project. He added that this trend of providing grants for domestic startups will continue in the future as well.
Consultants and officials of Idea Project including Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman, Deputy Project Director of iDEa Project and Deputy Secretary took part in this workshop. The event was hosted by Siddharth Goswami, Senior Consultant and Operations Specialist, Idea Project.
