Six people have been arrested from 7 shops at Mirpur Shopping Complex in Mirpur-2 area of the capital with 213 unauthorized mobile handsets.
The operation was carried out by the Enforcement and Inspection Team of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-4) on Tuesday.
Among the raided shops, 34 handsets from Mobile Lab, 31 from Mobile & Gazette, 9 from Tech Factory, 33 from Gadget Villa-639, to 31 from Gadget Villa-662, 33 from Gadget Villa-671 and 42 from Choras were seized.
According to the BTRC, the detainees had been in the business of unauthorized mobile handsets for a long time. Legal action is being taken against them as per Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulation Act 2001, (Amended-2010).
