Emphasizing the enriching cultural practices through the use of technology, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina opined in her words as, “We ultimately have to move towards technology.”
“We can enrich our culture by using technology. We shall pay due attention in this regard,” she added.
While inaugurating the newly constructed Shilpakala Academy building in eight districts through a video conference from Ganobhaban on Wednesday, this is how she expressed her views about culture and technology.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, “Cinema was once the only source of entertainment in our country. Which has been phased out due to technology. I think we should build cinema halls again in every district and upazila. Cineplex may also be set up. We have a special allocation of one thousand crore taka for this purpose. ”
Commenting on the introduction of digital system in the whole of Bangladesh, she said, “Today I am sitting in Ganobhaban talking to all the people of these eight districts at the same time. This is how we can build a communication with others. We have to keep that in mind all the time. ”
The Prime Minister further said, “We will not forget the heritage. Again, we have to keep pace with the times. I think it is necessary to acquire modern technology and knowledge along with tradition. One cannot be left out. We have to keep in mind that we have to move towards technology.”
The eight districts where the new Shilpakala Academy buildings located are: Kushtia, Khulna, Jamalpur, Narayanganj, Pabna, Manikganj, Moulvibazar and Rangpur.
State Minister for Culture KM Khalid and Director General of Shilpakala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky spoke on the occasion among others.
Relevant senior officials from Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Dhaka and Kushtia, Khulna, Jamalpur, Narayanganj, Pabna, Manikganj, Moulvibazar and Rangpur Deputy Commissioners’ offices were also present on the occasion.
