Mostafa Jabbar, the Posts and Telecommunications Minister said that handicrafts of Bangladesh especially muslin, khaddar, handloom, handicrafts, pottery or jamdani are known as unique examples of Bengali creativity before the world. Through digital technology, we need to showcase the creativity of our ordinary people, including our abhorrent culture, to the world. The government is determined to provide all possible assistance in this regard.
The Minister was speaking today, as the chief guest at the inaugural function of Karika Bangladesh Handicraft Cooperative Federation Limited’s program ‘World Journey in Handicrafts and Digital Technology’ at Shahbagh in Dhaka.
The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, citing the example of ‘Creative Thailand’ program, said, “We want to make our handicrafts, pottery, handicrafts and other folk cultural products popular and acceptable in the domestic and international markets.” Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina started her journey to establish Digital Bangladesh in 2008. In continuation of this, it has reached the place of leadership in the fifth industrial revolution in Bangladesh today and is creating the golden Bengal of Bangabandhu as an advanced, prosperous country.
The Minister called upon the stakeholders to come forward to take advantage of the opportunity to spread our traditional craftworks or handicrafts worldwide by imparting necessary training and knowledge gained for digital marketing. He said Bangabandhu inaugurated the National Handicraft Exhibition of Karika Bangladesh in September 1974 which is a unique example of his immense patronage in the development of our handicrafts, pottery, handicrafts and folk culture.
The Minister emphasized on the need to develop the Handicraft Cooperative Federation Limited as a digital marketing organization in memory of Bangabandhu. He said Bangabandhu has emphasized cooperative initiatives. You take this organization forward by working on a cooperative basis. This initiative must be taken forward, it cannot be allowed to be destroyed. We will extend all necessary support to expand it.
The Minister expressed his firm commitment to be by their side in the field of digital technology.
Earlier, the Minister cut the ribbon and inaugurated the program of Karika titled ‘Let the World Journey Begin at the Handicraft and Digital Technology Summit’ of Bangladesh Handicraft Cooperative Federation Limited. Former Additional Secretary Saiful Islam and Karika Bangladesh Handicraft Cooperative Federation Limited Chairman Zarina Saeed and other officials of the organization were present on the occasion. The Minister toured various stalls. He praised the quality, design and management of the products.
