A day-long job fair was held on Sunday at the NGO Affairs Bureau in Agargaon of the capital to provide job opportunities to the people with disabilities. The fair was organized by Bangladesh Computer Council with the aim of ensuring training and employment in the field of information and communication technology for persons with disabilities. There were stalls of 52 employers in the fair for recruitment. More than 500 trained disabled job seekers from different parts of the country took part in the fair. Out of them, 50 persons with disabilities have received appointment letters directly.
Sweet Bangladesh has recruited maximum 40 people. Bangladesh Computer Council was in the next position. The company has hired 7 people for the project. Fifotech, Synesis IT and My Outsourcing have also hired one person each.
In addition, 310 more people have been shortlisted for employment in the fair. The organizers are hoping to get 100 of them recruited in the next week.
State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak inaugurated the fair in the morning.
Dr. Abdul Mannan, Executive Director, Bangladesh Computer Council, presided over the function. KM Tariqul Islam, Director General, Bureau of NGO Affairs; Khondokar Jahurul Alam, Executive Director, CSID and Dr. Saki Khandaker, Chief Operating Officer, Suchana Foundation delivered their speeches on the event. Mohammad Enamul Kabir, Director (Training and Development), Computer Council delivered his welcome speech.
Prof. Khandaker Abdullah Al Mamun, Director, Aims Lab- the first brain computer interface lab in Bangladesh; Dr. Sathi, Executive Director of Suchana Foundation; Shomi Kaiser, President of e-Cab; Tanjibul Bashar, Founder of ‘My Outsourcing’ were present at the event at the event among others.
