The state minister for information and communication technology has promised to unveil a digital inter-transaction platform this year, adding that 15 banks have already joined the platform along with mobile wallets. All types of bill payments will be made cashless; All people will be brought online from ‘inline’.
He made the remarks while speaking online on Saturday evening on ’10 Years of MFS: Post-Corona Field-Reality ‘.
The Minister of State for ICT said that Bangladesh has emerged as a champion of mobile financial users in the world due to the dynamic, visionary, honest, courageous and intelligent leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He said that for a policy decision of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made in 2010 created National Payment Switch Gateway. Otherwise, today’s electronic transaction, mobile wallet etc. would not have been in use. We could not get the benefit of any of these services.
Mentioning the names of bKash, SureCash and Upay, Palak said, “bKash has taken us to a place of dignity as the first ‘unicorn’ in our country. Thanks to bKash founder and CEO Kamal Qadir and other mobile wallet service providers including SureCash and Upay for their contributions. As a result of their courageous initiative, the government have been able to deliver Tk 2500 each to more than 5 million unemployed people in a quick and transparent manner during the pandemic. The scholarship money is also being delivered directly to 13 million mothers of primary school students through the Primary School Mother’s Smile Project.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that all this was possible as a result of the continuous leadership of the government.
