A special discussion meeting and reception was held on the occasion of International Women’s Day on Tuesday at the National Museum of Science and Technology. The meeting also emphasized creating conducive working environment for women in government departments. At the same time, 10 female officers and employees along with the Consultant Aeronautical Engineer Tanzia Rashid and Assistant Professor Tasneem Binte Shawkat of RUET were given special certificates and mementos.
Speaking on the occasion, Director General of the National Museum of Science and Technology Mohammad Munir Chowdhury said, “Women have proved their unique talents and abilities in many sectors including science and technology. They are an essential part of our progress. Therefore, men should be aware of the establishment of fair rights and dignity of women in the workplace. The contribution of women outside the home must be recognized. Women’s rights are well established in Islam. Depriving women of their rights is a big sin.”
