Russian gamers are now unable to play online games of Japanese multinational gaming company Nintendo Co. Although services such as e-sports have not been discontinued, the opportunity to play games made by Kiater online has been virtually completely shut down in Russia due to the ‘ruble’ payment complications.
Meanwhile, Nintendo has posted a notice on a Russian website to keep the e-shop service in ‘maintenance mode’.
It said, “The e-shop is temporarily in ‘maintenance mode’ as a result of the closure of ‘Ruble’ payment service in Nintendo e-shop.”
However, it is not clear what kind of payment services Nintendo uses in Russia.
Earlier, Microsoft had decided not to sell any of its new products in Russia, including Xbox hardware and software. In addition, gaming companies ‘Electronic Arts’ and ‘CD Project Red’ have stopped selling games in Russia and Belarus.
Meanwhile, Verge has reported that gaming company Sony has stopped selling their GT6 games in Russia’s PlayStation Store. However, the Sony authorities did not give any official statement about this.
