The Department of Information and Communication Technology celebrated the historic 7th March on Monday by unveiling the “Bangabandhu Bangladesh” sculpture and holding a discussion meeting at the ICT Tower in Agargaon.
Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank, Dr. Atiur Rahman, presented a keynote address on Bangabandhu’s historic March 7th speech at a discussion titled ‘Bangabandhu’s Historic March 7th Speech: Sources of Motivation for Freedom and Liberation loving People’ organized by Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority. In his speech, he highlighted the aesthetic features of the March 7 speech of Bangabandhu. The former governor also said that he had brought together people of different ideologies in the region as a political strategist without being a technician.
He said that to the 74 percent of youth, Bangabandhu means his 7th March speech. In this speech, he not only guided a nation on its course of action, but also outlined the sorrows, deprivations and future of his lifelong political struggle in an astonishing poetic beauty. It was in this speech that his deepest philosophical thoughts and the most aesthetic expression of his pro-people leadership came to light. His tactical message was well understood by the people of Bengal, so from then on they started preparing for war. Without directly declaring independence, he instructed them to be ready with whatever they had. This speech has also played a controlling role in building global recognition and empathy. This spontaneous but well-organized speech was full of emotion and logic at the same time. It was through this speech that Bangabandhu outlined independence; He Prepared a roadmap for the economic, political and cultural liberation of the people of this country. He was not an architect, but a poet of politics. So the world conscience took this speech as an immortal poem of politics.
The State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak was present as the chief guest in the discussion meeting while the meeting was presided over by Md. Khairul Amin, Director General of the Digital Security Agency.
Speaking as the chief guest, the State Minister said that in just 19 minutes of his speech, Bangabandhu highlighted the history of 23 years of exploitation and deprivation. He painted a picture of torture. He also gave instructions in a 19-minute speech on how to prepare for a guerrilla war against torture. In such a short period of time, Bangabandhu also gave a blueprint for the future of an independent country.
Presenting a comparative picture of the current socio-economic situation of Bangladesh and Pakistan, State Minister Junaid Ahmed Palak also mentioned that Bangladesh today is far ahead of Pakistan in all respects. He further said that conspiracies against Bangabandhu started immediately after the liberation war when Bangabandhu gave his hand in rebuilding a war-torn country. Ignoring these conspiracies, he was determined to take the country forward. Bangabandhu’s ideology and the spirit of the war of liberation were very cleverly concealed from our new generation. The slogan ‘Joy Bangla’ which was echoing the air of Bengal in the days of the war of liberation, has been very cleverly concealed. A group has kept the leader concealed.
If Bangabandhu had not been born, Bangladesh would not have been born. He said Bangabandhu does not belong to a specific party, group or country; He is an undisputed leader in the world. The State Minister for ICT called upon the government officials and employees to join hands with the people and serve the people as directed by Bangabandhu. He said Bangabandhu has given political liberation and Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina has made our struggle for economic liberation successful. Today Bangladesh has become a developing and technologically dependent digital Bangladesh.
In his welcome address, ANM Shafiqul Islam, Director (Joint Secretary) on behalf of the Managing Director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, briefly discussed the significance of the March 7 speech. He reminded of the responsibility of the present generation towards the country.
The discussion meeting was attended by officials of the Department of Information and Communication Technology and various departments and agencies under it. Director General of the Digital Security Agency Md. Khairul Amin announced the end of the program. Earlier, the Minister of State for ICT along with officials from departments and agencies of the department unveiled the sculpture of Bangabandhu at ICT Tower and laid a wreath at it.
