In the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, more than 300,000 Ukrainians have already fled to other countries as refugees. Airbnb will provide free temporary shelter to a maximum of one lakh of these homeless refugees. News Engadget.
Airbnb has already sent letters of support to leaders of European countries, including Poland, Germany, Hungary and Romania.
Airbnb’s non-profit organization Airbnb.org will work with governments and local organizations in each country to assist refugees. This assistance also includes long-term shelter benefits. The rent of the houses used in the shelter will be paid by the donor agencies including Airbnb.
Last week, Airbnb reported that it had sheltered 21,300 Afghan refugees. The number will be increased to 40,000, the company said.
