In Saturia, Maniganj, near the capital city, the first digital village or digital commerce village in the country is going to be implemented. The Business Promotion Council of the Ministry of Commerce has taken this initiative to make the village a model to further strengthen global relevance through digital transformation of business at the marginal level. E-Cab is jointly implementing this initiative.
In the next three months, at least 200 weavers/entrepreneurs will be empowered to conduct business through e-commerce in this pilot program.
Accordingly, a coordination meeting for project implementation was held with the stakeholders in Saturia on Sunday (February 27). The meeting was attended by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sharmin Ara, Joint Secretary of Commerce Ministry and Business Promotion Council (BPC) Coordinator Md Abdur Rahim Khan, e-Cab General Secretary Abdul Wahed Tamal and other officials of Upazila and Union Parishad along with local weavers.
e-Cab was represented by Ibrahim Khalil, Chairman, Rural Standing Committee, Zahiduzzaman Saeed, Member, Mir Shahed Ali, Founder Member, Jahangir Alam Shovon, General Manager and Mehedi Hasan.
It has been informed that this model village will be created by the government and non-government organizations in various fields including internet, logistics, digital payment, skills development, new employment, creation of cross border ecosystem. And through this, this project will work to accelerate the prosperity of the country by connecting marginal entrepreneurs in the mainstream of the economy.
