ISPAB, an organization of internet service providers, is setting up a state-of-the-art training lab in Dhaka with government support to ensure uninterrupted internet services as well as secured cyber sky of the country. Saiful Islam Siddique, Senior Vice President, ISPAB, emphasized the importance of conducting regular online training activities with APRICOT to improve technical skills in routing, switching and DIDS attack through this lab. He also expressed his conviction to keep the Internet service forward for all in the country by sharing regular mutual specialized training, practice and thinking among engineers at global and regional level.
The senior vice-president of ISPAB made such a statement on behalf of the host country in his welcome address at the APRICOT conference on Monday.
Delegates from more than 97 countries attended the conference, which was organized to provide technical training on Internet service management in the Asia-Pacific region.
The conference was chaired by Philip Smith. Sharful Alam, Chief Strategy Officer, Fiber at Home, and Jack Havati, Internet Protocol Pioneer, also presented two keynote addresses at the event.
Asia Pacific Network Information Center (EPNIC) policy chair and elected executive committee member Sumon Ahmed Sabir and opening board member Aftab Siddiqui spoke in the conference.
Speaking on the occasion, Saiful Islam said Bangladesh is one of the fastest growing internet users in the Asia-Pacific region. Due to the announcement of ‘Digital Bangladesh’ vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the internet service providers have been able to keep all the work of the country active even in the extreme situation of Covid 19 pandemic. The Internet has reached the village level. The members of ISPAB have been working round the clock tirelessly to keep this network active. In order to make their work more efficient, we need to enhance our technical engineering skills as well as work on some policy issues in a global context. Only with the combined efforts of our partners we will be able to deliver the benefits of the Internet from house to house.
At the end of the formalities, a day-long issue-based seminar will be held at the conference for three days. Through workshops and seminars, the details of the Internet operation system are exchanged with engineers, as well as policy issues such as keeping Internet services operational in response to disasters and Internet diplomacy are discussed.
On the occasion of the conference, ISPAB, the host organization of the conference, started organizing various events online from last 21st February.
