Bangladesh Bank has been given CA (Certifying Authority) certificate by the Electronic Signature Certificate Authority (CCA) of the Information and Communication Technology Department for the purpose of maintaining security in the digital transactions of Scheduled Commercial Banks. NM Ziaul Alam, Senior Secretary, ICT Department, formally handed over the certificate to Humayun Kabir, Executive Director, Bangladesh Bank, in the meeting room of Information Communication Technology Department on Sunday.
The organization regulates the country’s banking system to ensure the confidentiality, reliability and credibility of the information as well as the identity of the giver and the receiver of information in the form of digital signatures and online transactions through these certificates.
The senior secretary of the ICT department said the move was a milestone in the spread of electronic and digital signatures in Bangladesh to reduce financial risk and ensure overall security for banks’ online transactions.
Speaking as the chief guest, NM Ziaul Alam said that the implementation of digital signature in the banking sector through Bangladesh Bank will ensure maximum security in online financial transactions of the people of the country.
CCA Chief Comptroller Mohammad Abu Saeed presided over the handover ceremony.
