In 2041, the Zuckerberg or the Elon Musk of Bangladesh will lead the technology world from the Sheikh Hasina Institute of Frontier Technology (SHIFT), built on project-based learning, flip classes and active learning philosophy. That is why the government, educational institutions and the industrial sector have been given utmost importance in harmonizing the power of ICT in the role of ‘Oxygen’ in today’s life, he said.
The state minister for ICT expressed such hope at a function to honor 43 winners of various international IT competitions at the Computer Council Conference Center in Agargaon, Bangladesh on Sunday.
Palak said that all the arrangements have been made as soon as they go far in innovation at once. Speaking on the occasion, he said that a ‘High Profile Fellowship’ has already been launched to bring the brain drain to zero.
He emphasized the importance of offering fellowships to new graduates as well as various IT societies.
Palak said, “We want high profile meritorious people to spend at least one year in Bangladesh. Those who do not get the opportunity can go to Google and/or Facebook.”
Dr. Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Executive Director, Bangladesh Computer Council, presided over the function. Prof. Mohammad Kaikobad, BRAC University, Prof. Lafifa Jamal, Dhaka University and NM Zeaul Alam, Senior Secretary, Department of ICT also spoke on the occasion.
In his speech, Dr. Kaikobad highlighted the memory of how the festival of Kanpur in neighboring India turned into a show for the achievements of the talented youth of Bangladesh in the international arena. He said, although the students of our country are talented in information technology, they are working in Bangladesh today but are taking the money of this country abroad. I hope that in the big projects of the country, a part of IT should be kept reserved for the youth of Bangladesh. Then patriotism will increase among them.
Block Chain Olympiad Chairman Habibullah N Karim, BCS President Shahid Ul Munir, BACCO President Wahid Sharif and General Secretary Touhid Hossain, CSID Director Zahurul Islam and others were present among others in the occasion.
Engineer Md. Enamul Kabir, Director, Bangladesh Computer Council delivered his welcome speech on the occasion. During his speech, he highlighted the country’s strong position in the ICT world last year and presented information about the talented winners.
Among the honorees were Robot Olympiad gold medalist Jaima Zahin Wara and HM Ashiqul Islam, a member of the BUET team, the champion of the ‘Asia West Region’ in the international programming competition.
In the global IT competition with young people with disabilities, 5 out of 4 categories, 29 in different categories in the International Robot Olympiad, 6 in the International Collegiate Programming Competition (ICP) World Finals, 6 in 2 categories, 3 in each of the international blockchain Olympia have been awarded certificates.
