With world-renowned isotope-free electronic brachytherapy, a therapy for treating cancer can be availed at the Gonoshasthya city hospital for only at Tk. 12,000.
This information was given at a seminar organized on the occasion of World Cancer Day on Saturday (February 5) at the Gonoshasthya city Hospital.
According to the seminar, there are two types of brachytherapy based on the use of radioactive sources. One is added a conventional radionuclide. The other is radionuclide free radiation safe electronic brachytherapy.
Electronic brachytherapy involves the safe treatment of X-rays. With this type of brachytherapy, cancer can be treated in almost any part of the body without damaging the healthy tissue on the side. Such as Breast Cancer, Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer, Gynecological Cancer with Uterus, Prostate Cancer, Pancreatic, Intestinal, Rectal and Brain Cancer.
Xoft Axxent Electronic Brachytherapy System (eBx) is a state-of-the-art cancer treatment system set up at the Gonoshasthya City Hospital for the benefit of cancer patients.
The seminar was presided over by Dr. Jafrullah Chowdhury and conducted by Jahangir Alam Mintu, Press Adviser of the Gonoshasthya Kendra. Dr. Samim Ul Maula spoke in the seminar. The presentation was made by the head professor of the cancer department at the Gonoshasthya city hospital Dr. Khorshed Alam.
The former director of the National Cancer Institute and the advisor of the Department of Cancer at the Gonoshasthya Kendra Professor Dr. MA Hai, Associate Professor Habibullah Talukder Taskin of National Cancer Institute, President of Bangladesh Health Reporters Forum Rashed Rabbi and others discussed in the seminar.
