Customers of e-commerce company Qcoom.com are going to get their money back from Monday (January 24). On the first day, 20 customers will be officially paid back. Money owed by other customers will be paid in phases later.
According to the Ministry of Commerce, the money will be formally handed over to the Foster Payment Gateway in the conference room of the ministry on January 24 at 12 noon. Senior Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce Tapan Kanti Ghosh will be present as the chief guest at the handover ceremony.
Muhammad Saeed Ali, Deputy Secretary, Digital Commerce Cell, said that the second meeting of the Technical Committee on Digital Commerce and Consumer Dissatisfaction would be held which will be presided over by Additional Secretary Commerce (Import and Domestic Trade) AHM Safiquzzaman. The money stuck will be handed over at the end of the meeting.
It is learned that according to the clearance of CID, the money is being refunded to the customers of Qcoom. At first, 20 customers will be given their money back. After that, gradually, the remaining 6,701 customers will get their money back.
Earlier, on January 10, Qcoom and their payment gateway Foster reported to the Commerce Ministry that they had agreed to refund Tk. 59 crore against the purchase order of 721 customers. With this payment gateway, the amount of money stuck by Qcoom.com is Tk. 397 crore.
The e-commerce company Qcoom started its activities in 2019. The company has been accused of offering products at a lower price than the market price but not delivering the products despite being paid for.
