The High Court has allowed the management board of e-commerce company evaly to withdraw Tk 2.35 crore from the accounts of two banks. The two banks are City Bank and South East Bank.
A single High Court bench of Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar passed the order on Sunday (January 18) on the plea of a board formed to run evaly.
At the same time, the court allowed the rental or sale of 22 cars in evaly’s name. The court also directed Bangladesh Bank and NBR to provide all the information and assets related to evaly.
Barrister Morshed Ahmed Khan appeared for evaly’s board in the court. Barrister Syed Mahsib Hossain was in favor of the writ petition.
Later, Barrister Syed Mahsib Hossain told the media that the court had asked him to use Tk 2.35 crore in the interest of the company. The court ordered the agency’s inspector general to deploy police at evaly’s head office. Customers are flocking there every day. This order has been given in the interest of security. Besides, Bangladesh Bank and NBR have been asked for a list of where and how the former chairman and MD of evaly has spent money.
Earlier on October 18, the High Court had constituted a five-member board headed by former Appellate Division Judge HM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik to manage the e-commerce company evaly.
Other members of the board are: Mohammad Rezaul Ahsan, former Secretary, Department of Local Government and Rural Development, Mahbub Kabir Milon, Additional Secretary, OSD, Fakhruddin Ahmed, Chartered Accountant, Barrister Khan Mohammad Shamim Aziz, Company Law Specialist.
