The court has delayed the hearing of the chargesheet in the case filed by band star Mahfuz Anam James and Miles Band’s Mannam Ahmed and Hamin Ahmed against mobile phone operator Banglalink for using songs without permission. The date of hearing has been rescheduled on 3 February, 2022.
On Wednesday, Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Kayesh granted the petition during the hearing and fixed the next date.
The case was scheduled to be heard in the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court on that day.
Prosecutor Tapas Kumar Pal said the accused’s lawyer had filed an application for his release. But due to lack of adequate preparation, time was requested from the plaintiff.
All the five accused in the case, including Banglalink CEO Eric Oss, are now out on bail in two separate cases filed under the Copyright Act against five Banglalink officials on November 10.
The other accused are Chief Compliance Officer Nurul Alam, Chief Digital Officer Sanjay Bhagasia, Chief Corporate Regulatory Officer Taimur Rahman and Head of VAS (Valued Services) Anik Dhar.
