Digital archiving and e-filing software has been launched in the Supreme Court of Bangladesh from today (Wednesday). The e-Judiciary project will transform more than one and a half thousand courts across the country into digital courts. This will increase the rate of case settlement and the people will get speedy justice.
Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain inaugurated the digital archiving and e-filing system. Law Minister Anisul Haque was the special guest and State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak presided over the function.
It is unfortunate for a Chief Justice to keep the court closed. Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain said, “We have been able to keep the court active as there is an online system even during the corona pandemic period. We are free to use the online court because we need to increase the number of judges two to three times.” District town building is needed for expansion. It is unknown that how long it will take to build those buildings. So, we have to give importance to online court so that everyone can continue working from home.
E-Judiciary is the largest scheme in the history of the judiciary under the direction of the Prime Minister. An e-filing system will be introduced in all parts of the country through a project titled e-Judiciary. If the case is filed electronically, the court will establish a deep relationship with the people seeking justice and the lawyers. Law Minister Anisul Haque said that through the implementation of e-filing in the Supreme Court, all the cases can be received and approved quickly online.
He added that the hassle of releasing case documents through analog will be reduced through digital archives and the need for physical infrastructure will be reduced in many ways and transparency will be ensured as the archiving process goes digital.
A digital corner will be created for our lawyers in each court. State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, who presided over the event, said that our lawyers will be able to conduct digital activities.
