Bangladesh will be a smart Bangladesh within 2041 by transforming villages into cities in the same way that the vision of Digital Bangladesh has been realized within the stipulated time due to specific goals and competent leadership.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak expressed such determination in his speech as the chief guest at the unveiling ceremony of the book E-Governance Provisions.
He said, the ICT department was evaluating three issues from the Prime Minister’s manifesto for the Eleventh Parliamentary Elections as a beacon. One of them is ‘my village, my city’. This does not mean building big buildings in the village, but ensuring all the facilities of the city in the villages. The benefits of which we have already begun to get. The second is the power of youth. Youth is being given importance in all the activities of our ICT department. And the third is good governance. Because if good governance can be established as per the promise of the Prime Minister along with development, then Bangladesh will be the golden Bangladesh, the dream of Bangabandhu of a developed and prosperous Bangladesh.
Analyzing the Prime Minister’s target of 2041, Palak further said, “As we have switched from analog to digital in the last 12 years, now we will be smart from digital. The way we moved from a labor-based economy to a digital economy, then we want to be a knowledge-based economy in the next 20 years that is by 2041. We want to be an innovative nation. We want to develop a smart Bangladesh from digital Bangladesh. Where smart farming, smart education, smart building, smart environment, smart city will be functional – I want to bring these into consideration. Because the Prime Minister has said that the per capita income will be set at 12 thousand dollars. That is hard to gain from agriculture or labor dependence. So, from now on the technologies of the fourth industrial revolution have to be mastered. ‘
Senior Secretary of ICT Department NM Zeaul Alam presided over the unveiling ceremony held at the conference room of ICT Department.
At this time Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) Executive Director Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan, Director General of Digital Security Agency Md. Khairul Amin, Member of the Compilation Committee Shirin Shabnam and BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir were present.
The e-Governance provisions book was published with a total of 8 strategy papers, 16 guidelines, 30 circulars and office notes, 8 rules and 15 laws. This book covers various laws and regulations for the transformation of the analog administrative system into a service-oriented digital administration.
