The Educational Charitable and Humanitarian Organization (ECO) and the Bangladesh Open Source Network (BDOSN) have launched a project to teach coding to female students. An agreement was signed in this regard at Eco Bangladesh’s office in Banani, Dhaka.
The agreement was made to work together to make schoolgirls fit for future work in science and technology by introducing them to programming and creating awareness. The project has started from November 1.
BDOSN has been organizing various programming competitions online and offline. As a result of this agreement, Eco Bangladesh and BDOSN will jointly organize programming workshops and programming contests for school girls across the country through the BD Girls Coding Project.
According to the ICT department, programming will be added to school students’ ICT books in the future. The project will introduce programming to schoolgirls to make it easier for students to learn programming in the classroom. Through this project, scratch programming will be taught in collaboration with BDOSN and Eco Bangladesh. BDOSN will organize programming competitions and programming camps with the students with the funding of Eco Bangladesh.
Echo Bangladesh President Nawazis Ara, General Secretary Amatur Rashid, Member Dr. Ahmad Salahuddin Treasurer Muhammad Muhibbullahil Baki and Amatur Rahim, a member of the Shefa Institute were present on behalf of ECO Bangladesh at the signing ceremony. BDOSN was represented by BDOSN General Secretary Munir Hasan and CEO Kaniz Fatema. The agreement was signed by Amatur Rashid on behalf of Eco Bangladesh and Kaniz Fatema on behalf of BDOSN.
Officers and members present at the event expressed optimism about teaching programming to female students. Amatur Rashid, Executive Director, Eco Bangladesh, praised the work of Bangladesh Open Source Network and pledged to work towards the same goal. Eco Bangladesh executive committee member.
