State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak has said that digital media has paved the way for fair prices for products and commented that Prime minister sheikh Hasina has encouraged the women of the country to become entrepreneurs. The Digital Center is a successful example of how the PM empowered women and created opportunities for them to become entrepreneurs.
The state minister also said that the government has acquired the capacity to bring about this change by ensuring internet service at the village level.
He added that now a female and male IT entrepreneur as well is relying on the internet using computers are bringing government services from every union and ward to the doorsteps of the people. Entrepreneur-producers, on the other hand, are using e-commerce as a point of digital hub or digital delivery for marketing and delivering their products.
The state minister was speaking at the awarding ceremony of ‘The Power of Women 2021’ organized by Women Entrepreneur Bangladesh at La Meridian Hotel in the capital on Wednesday night.
“We do not find many instances of deception in the initiatives of women leadership,” she said. That is why a huge platform has been created in our e-commerce. Where more than 3 lakh entrepreneurs have been created. Today I am very proud to hear the success story of Women Entrepreneur Bangladesh Platform.
In his speech, Palak remarked that the goal of smart Bangladesh based on advanced knowledge of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina by 2041 will not be fulfilled by just running after jobs. In her words, that goal can only be achieved if women entrepreneurs participate equally in the economy. To this end, we have trained 50,000 people under the Learning and Learning Development Project, where female freelancers were 30 percent. Now our target is to work as an entrepreneur with 6.5 lakh freelancer remittance fighters earning over $ 700 billion annually. Half of the one lakh freelancers who are turning into entrepreneurs through our Freelancer to Entrepreneur project will be women.
Meher Afroz Chumki, Chairperson of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Peerzada Shahidul Harun, Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, and Chief Executive Officer of Padma Bank Md. Ehsan Khasru spoke on the occasion.
