The main event of the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) ended online with the participation of 200 teams from 66 countries around the world. Bangladesh participated in this Olympiad for the first time and achieved tenth place in the world. The World Robot Olympiad Association announced the results online this afternoon in the presence of the Secretary General of the World Robot Olympiad. Participating in the WRO’s Future Engineers category, “Team Prodigy” ranked tenth in the world. The members of this team were Sajjad Islam of Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College and Tousif Samin of Notre Dame College.
On the other hand, Bangladesh has secured 16th position by participating in the open category. The members of the team “Powerium” who participated in this category were Md. Ashrafuzzaman Fouad of Notre Dame College, Muhammad Abrar Jawad of Dhaka College and Tanzim Zaman Khan of Government Science College.
It is to be noted that Bangladesh Open Source Network (BDOSN) organizes the Bangladesh episode of the Olympiad as well as coordinates the international episode online. Bangladesh took part in the main phase of online WRO in collaboration with Venue of Computer Services Limited.
The teams participating in this Olympiad represent their respective countries by winning their national competitions. Bangladesh participated in this International Olympiad for the first time. This year, Bangladesh participated in the “Open Category” and “Future Engineers” category of the Olympiad. The World Robot Olympiad Organizing Committee judges and monitors the Olympiad online.
