Leader of Parliament and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that if given the opportunity to produce corona vaccine, we will also be able to make it.
“Bangladesh has the capability to produce coronavirus vaccines and send them on to other countries,” he said. At the climate conference, I also said that we want to make our own vaccine. Barriers to vaccine production need to be removed. It needs to be open for all. People deserves it. It must be considered as the property of the people. So that no one in the world can be deprived of this vaccine. We will also produce vaccines if given the opportunity. We have that ability. That’s why I bought the land. We have initiated and work is on.”
The Prime Minister made the remarks while participating in a general discussion of the National Assembly on Monday (November 15).
Sheikh Hasina said, “What I saw after coming to Bangladesh is that people didn’t study science, they had no interest in science, there was no research. There was no special allocation.”
She also highlighted the steps taken by the Awami League government in science and technology after coming to power in 1996. “We are not lagging behind now,” she said. I thank the people of Bangladesh. They have repeatedly voted for me. Gave the opportunity to serve them. We tried our best. Within a decade, the transformation of Bangladesh has gained a status all over the world. No one speaks ill of a Bangladeshi, while in abroad.
Sheikh Hasina said, “Some of our young MPs including my son Sajeeb Wazed Joy and Rehana’s son Radwan Mujib Siddique have all joined the YoungBangla startup program. We also have a special allocation for this program. If children want to take initiative, we will stand by them. Online trading, e-commerce, tender – these are (already) introduced in Bangladesh. There is more time ahead, and more will be done. It doesn’t take place in a day; it has to be done step by step.”
The ‘UNESCO-Bangladesh Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman International Prize in the Field of Creative Economy’ was awarded for the first time in Paris last Thursday (November 11). A Ugandan organization called ‘Motive Creation’ received the award. The award was presented by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris. The prize will be awarded once every two years, with a financial value of $ 50,000.
Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Hasina thanked UNESCO for introducing the award in the name of Bangabandhu. Expressing hope that the youth of Bangladesh will also come forward like Uganda Motivation Creation, Sheikh Hasina said, “Uganda has received this award today. One day, inshaAllah, I hope that one or another entrepreneur from Bangladesh will get this award.”
