Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL) will provide 30 Mbps broadband internet connection in the Upazila Health Complexes of the country. This will increase the usage of 9 Gbps bandwidth of this state telecommunication service provider.
According to sources, a demand letter has already been issued to BTCL from the Ministry of Health to connect 315 Upazila Health Complexes.
In a post, Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mostafa Jabbar said the connection would help in medical treatment at the Upazila level. Earlier, BTCL has provided digital connection to 80 Upazila Eye Clinics where telemedicine is running. On the other hand, BTCL is currently using more than 450 Gbps bandwidth and it is increasing every day.
On March 11, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the activities of 70 community vision centers in 20 districts of the country to provide services to eye patients using telemedicine technology. After BTCL’s broadband internet connection, Community Vision Centers were launched in a total of 109 Upazilas across the country.
