Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said all e-commerce companies have to register within the next two months and the security money has to be deposited in Bangladesh Bank.
The decision was taken at a regular cabinet meeting on Thursday (October 28). He said this in a news briefing after the meeting.
Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said e-commerce companies have to deposit a certain amount of money with Bangladesh Bank at the time of registration. If an organization cheats with the customer then the customers will be compensated from that money.
Earlier, the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina virtually joined a cabinet meeting from the Ganobhaban which was presided over by the PM.
Besides, the third quarter (July-September) report of 2021 on the implementation of the decision taken at the cabinet meeting, ‘Approval of the draft of Atiya Forest (Conservation) Act, 2021, use of quality jute bags with polythene liner instead of polypropylene bags, cancellation of subsidy given for bags for chemical fertilizer packaging was discussed. The Cabinet was informed about the approval of the proposal to cancel the decision taken at the Cabinet meeting on approval, approval of the list of public holidays for 2022, and the visit of the State Minister for Information and Communication Technology to Uzbekistan from September 1 to 7.
