The High Court has fixed Sunday (October 31) as the date for hearing the writ petition to return the money stuck in the payment gateway to customers who went to buy goods at e-commerce companies.
Hearings and orders will be issued to find out if there are any more writs and orders regarding e-commerce during this period.
A virtual bench of High Court comprising Justice Mojibur Rahman Mia and Justice Mohammad Kamrul Hasan Mollah passed the order on Monday.
Barrister M. Abdul Qayyum and Barrister Sabrina Jerin heard the writ in court today. Barrister Sabrina Jerin confirmed the matter to reporters.
Earlier on Thursday (October 21), the Concious Consumers Society (CCS), a non-governmental organization working on consumer rights, filed a writ petition seeking guidance on the matter.
The writ petition was filed to return the money stuck in the payment gateway to the customers while going to buy products in the e-commerce company. Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Sabrina Jerin filed the writ petition on behalf of CCS.
