Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi has said that e-commerce companies will be shut down from business if they do not register. “E-commerce companies will be given unique business identification numbers from the ICT department,” he said. Those who do not register will be ‘out’ of business. There is no cost to register.
He made the remarks in response to a question from reporters after a high-level government meeting on e-commerce in the conference room of the Commerce Ministry at the Secretariat on Monday.
At the same time, he added, ‘Central Logistics Tracking Platform (CLTP) needs to be set up for legal checks. The Central Management Complaint System, if anyone has a complaint somewhere, will come here. The ICT department will do this in the next three months. They will give follow-up in the next two-three weeks.
The meeting was attended by Salman F Rahman, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Private Industries and Investment, Mustafa Jabbar, Minister for Posts and Telecommunications, Junaid Ahmed Palak, Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and representatives of concerned ministries and agencies.
