Mohammad Munir Chowdhury, Director General of the National Museum of Science and Technology, said, “Science and technology education for children and adolescents should be made enjoyable and attractive so that they can survive from the destructive addiction of mobile and internet. Science education should not be based on memorization or confined to textbooks. Although the government spends hundreds of crores of Taka on science education, we are not able to get its benefits.
He further said that many problems of Bangladesh can be solved by using knowledge and science in the excellence of technology without just getting the certificate. For a noble cause, the National Museum of Science and Technology is constantly engaged in endless efforts to develop the latent talents of children and adolescents through various programs including science lectures, quizzes and scientific innovations. The National Museum of Science and Technology is involving educational institutions across the country in science programs and providing financial and material assistance. The precious time of life cannot be wasted in any way. Every moment must be used to improve the quality of life of the people of the world and to solve problems through scientific innovation by understanding and searching for the creation of the Creator.”
He made the remarks at a gathering of students and young scientists at Chittagong’s St. Placid’s High School and College, Shah Waliullah Institute and Research Lab Chittagong on October 21 and 23. A total of 3 (three) lakh Taka checks were handed over to the concerned educational institutions and science clubs for purchasing science materials from the Science and Technology Development Trust. The principal and headmaster of the concerned institution were present on the occasion.
