Tesla’s Shanghai plant is expected to manufacture 300,000 vehicles in the first nine months of this year. Despite the global semiconductor crisis, the company struggled to deliver cars in the July-September quarter of the year. News Reuters.
The factory is making electric Model 3 sedans and Model Y Sport-utility cars. These are designed to be exported to local markets as well as overseas markets, including Germany and Japan.
In the first eight months of the year, 240,000 vehicles were supplied from the factory; a large portion of which was exported. The China Passenger Car Association reported this information. However, Tesla has not yet given details about the factory’s production.
A Tesla official said in August that the Shanghai plant was expected to manufacture 4.5 lakh vehicles this year. Of this, 66,100 vehicles will be exported.
