Tesla, a world-renowned company for making electric cars, but this time the company of Elon Musk also wants to sell electricity. In a recent document from the company, it is found that Tesla has applied to sell electricity directly to the public in Texas, USA. News Engadget.
Tesla has reportedly applied to the Texas Public Utilities Commission for approval to generate electricity and sell it directly to the public. The document was first published in Texas Monthly recently.
Details of Tesla’s plan were not disclosed in this application. However, Tesla says it wants to sell electricity directly to buyers, keeping in mind those who already have a Tesla car.
Although known as the manufacturer of electric cars, Tesla has a separate ‘solar power’ unit. This unit installs solar panels in residential and other buildings. It is then paired with Tesla’s ‘Powerwalls’ battery to allow the energy stored during the day to be used at night.
Tesla has another business called Megapack. The business under which large batteries are manufactured to save electricity in ‘utility-scale’ quantities. Tesla recently saved more than a hundred megawatts of power in Angleton, Texas. Tesla will be able to supply electricity to at least 20,000 homes during the summer with this battery.
Although it has been selling megapack services to various companies for so long, Tesla is trying to sell electricity directly to the consumers through this new application.
