Japan has assured Bangladesh of its full cooperation in setting up an automobile testing and research institute in Bangladesh. Japan’s Ambassador to Bangladesh Ito Naoki has expressed interest in investing in automobile sector of Bangladesh.
He expressed his interest in a courtesy call on Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun at the Industries Ministry in the capital on Wednesday (August 18th). During the meeting, the Ambassador expressed satisfaction that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding of Mitsubishi Motors Company Limited of Japan is in the final stage.
Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Industry (Policy, Law and International Cooperation) Sheikh Faizul Amin, Private Secretary to the Minister (Deputy Secretary), Md. Abdul Wahed, Senior Assistant Secretary (Policy), Md. Salim Ullah and Haruta Hiroki, First Secretary of the Head of Economic Department of the Embassy of Japan were present on the occasion.
During the meeting, Naoki Ito said that Bangladesh is leading among the South Asian countries in terms of expansion of industrial technology and trade as a developing country.
On the other hand, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun said the two countries would work more closely with each other in the future on various issues including development of science and technology infrastructure.
