The court banned Shamima Nasrin, chairman and Md. Russell, MD of the e-commerce company evaly.com from traveling abroad.
ACC prosecutor Mahmud Hossain Jahangir announced this on Saturday.
He said the order was passed by Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Imrul Kayesh on Thursday, July 15.
Earlier, the ACC had taken steps to prevent them from going abroad. ACC lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan said the ACC took action when it found out that they could go abroad. Courts with full jurisdiction were not open then. A restraining order came from a court of competent jurisdiction on Thursday.
According to the ACC sources, it is known from reliable sources during the investigation that the MD of evaly Md. Russell and chairman Shamima Nasrin are trying secretly to leave the country. While the ACC investigation is going on, it seems that the overall investigation activities may be disrupted if the people concerned leave the country. The company has taken necessary steps including banning Russell and Shamima Nasrin from traveling abroad.
On July 8, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) launched an inquiry into the matter of having no trace of BDT 339 crore collected from customers and merchants. An investigation committee has been formed with two members of the agency as members in this connection.
According to ACC sources, the inquiry committee has been set up to look into whether the money of the customer and the merchant has been embezzled or smuggled.
