The National University (NU) authorities have decided to provide devices and free internet data to the students. The decision has been taken to ensure the attendance of students in virtual classes in the ongoing COVI-19 pandemic The decision was announced by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Dr. Md. Mashiur Rahman.
He said the Principals have been asked to send applications to National University through colleges for students who do not have devices and cannot afford to buy internet data to join online classes. Some allocation has been made in the National University in this regard. From this allocation, some devices will be purchased and given to the colleges. If the test is taken online, those who do not have the device will take the test from the college and return it again.
Digital labs have already been set up in 15 colleges to ensure online classes for 100 percent of students, said the Vice-Chancellor of the National University.
He said the university plans to record 12,000 class lectures at the honors and masters level to ensure online classes, adding that 7,500 classes of lectures have already been uploaded on YouTube. A student will be able to watch these and prepare properly for the exam. It is also being considered to take exams in MCQ (Multiple Choice Question) system to free the students from session jam.
The number of students studying in various courses including Honors, Masters, Graduation (Pass) under the National University is 29 lakh.
