The new state-sponsored e-commerce marketplace ‘Red-Green’ has been launched to inspire rural women in e-commerce. The web and the mobile-friendly platform is being implemented under the auspices of the National Women’s Organization, the ‘Tathya-Apa’ Project and the Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI).
State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatun Nesa Indira inaugurated the platform on Thursday.
Secretary of the same ministry Md. Sayedul Islam presided over the function and Begum Chemon Ara Tayyab, Chairman of the National Women’s Organization,
BFTI Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mohammad Zafar Uddin, Director of BFTI, Md. Obaidul Azam, Executive Director of the National Women’s Organization Maksura Noor and e-Cab President Shami Kaiser were connected virtually.
Meena Parveen, Director of the ‘Tathya-Apa’ Project delivered her welcome speech on the occasion. Women entrepreneurs from different nooks and corners of the country spoke in the program.
It was learned at the event that women from 490 Upazilas across the country will work to create e-commerce entrepreneurs. Lalsabuj.com has started working with the target of creating more than one lakh women entrepreneurs in a year. To this end, Tathya- Apa Project and BFTI have also conducted several training activities to give women an idea about e-commerce. Tathya-Apa Project and BFTI have also taken steps for payment and delivery in the marketplace.
