To facilitate trade and commerce and safeguarding tourism in the Asian region during the ongoing corona pandemic, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak has called for paying due importance on digital Covid vaccine passports.
He made the call while participating in a webinar organized by the Indian government on Monday to create a digital platform for Covid 19 vaccine.
The state minister highlighted various initiatives including the ‘Surokkha app’ of the ICT department to deal with the Corona pandemic. He urged all concerned to work together to tackle the pandemic.
Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India addressed the function as the chief guest through a video message. In his speech, Modi highlighted the importance of technology in dealing with Corona. He conveyed that the Indian-made corona app ‘Arogya Setu’ will be available on the open-source platform. So, it will be open to many countries other than India.
Rajesh Bhushan, Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India said, “India believes that everyone should work together to combat Corona.”
Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Foreign Secretary of India, RS Sharma, CEO of National Health Authority of India, Minister of Communications and IT of Afghanistan Mashomeh Khavari, Minister of Health Dr. Wahid Majroh, Minister of Health of Bhutan Leonpo Deken Wangmo, Minister of Health of Maldives Ahmed Nasim and ministers and representatives of 142 countries were connected in the webinar.
