Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been able to turn the once unknown Bangladesh into a role model for development. Under her able leadership, Bangladesh has gained a reputation all over the world as a digital country; commented Nuruzzaman Ahmed, the Social Welfare Minister.
The minister made the remarks while addressing as a special guest on a webinar titled ‘Digital Technology in Allowance Distribution: Ensuring Transparency and Accountability’ organized by Telecom Reporters Network Bangladesh-TRNB on Saturday.
Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar was the chief guest at the webinar which was chaired by the TRNB President Rashed Mehdi.
Speaking as the special guest, the Social Welfare Minister said that the goal set by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to build a digital Bangladesh after taking charge of the country for the second time in 2008 was being conspired by the anti-liberation force to mislead the people. The Prime Minister has thwarted all their conspiracies and made the dream of making a digital Bangladesh a reality.
The Minister further said that the whole world is amazed that the Prime Minister has changed the destiny of 170 million people of this country by turning the once unknown Bangladesh into a Digital Bangladesh. The Prime Minister implemented what she said. People today are united against the conspirators and have rejected all the conspirators.
“We all have to come forward to fulfill the expectations of the Prime Minister for the welfare of millions of helpless people. The programs that the Prime Minister is implementing for the welfare of the poor and helpless people must be successful. The country is going to become a developed world today. 170 million people of the country have confidence in the Prime Minister. A few anti-liberation conspirators will not be able to tarnish our development”, said the Social Welfare Minister.
The Minister further mentioned that the Prime Minister has continued the pace of our development even in the face of the Corona pandemic. Under her able guidance, the Ministry of Social Welfare has been providing allowances to about one crore beneficiaries digitally including old age allowance, widow and husband abuse allowance, disability allowance and disable student stipend.
Sameer Kumar Dey, General Secretary, TRNB, presented the keynote address at the webinar. Sheikh Rafiqul Islam, Director General of the Department of Social Services, the project director of the project to provide stipends for primary education, Yusuf Ali; BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir, TIM Nurul Kabir, former General Secretary of AMTAB and Tanvir A. Mishuk, Managing Director of Nagad, spoke in the virtual conversation.
