State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak said this while addressing a discussion on ‘Role of Women Entrepreneurs in the Advancement of E-Commerce in Digital Bangladesh’ organized by a private television channel on Friday.
In the last 12 years, 1.5 million tech-based jobs have been created in the country, said Palak. ” Even before a period of 12 years, Bangladesh was a labor-based country and now we are being transformed into a technology-based, talent-dependent country.”
Women entrepreneurs will be even more successful if they can create appropriate opportunities in training, technology and finance. He hoped that e-commerce would play an important role in the economy and employment.
At present, gender inequality has come down or gone nowhere, said Nasima Akter Nisho, president of WE, adding that the government has given a good incentive package to women entrepreneurs. At this time the entrepreneur is able to apply for a loan without any hassle. Which is helping women entrepreneurs move forward.
Soumya Basu, Chairman and CEO of Silk Global Limited, said that in the last 12 months, 700,000 women entrepreneurs have benefited from the master class organized by WE and many have become millionaires through which they have the opportunity to make a good contribution to the economy of Bangladesh.
