Instead of cars, the Japanese carmaker Toyota has focused on robots. They have already made a robot that can do the chores properly. The robot is being developed to help the senior citizens of the country who will grow older by 2040.
The Toyota robot debuted itself by taking selfies on the national selfie day of Japan on June 21. A blog published by the Toyota Research Institute has seen robots wiping kitchen tables and videotaping themselves.
As seen in the video, the Toyota robot is looking at different elements of the house in 3D geometrically and is able to identify surfaces like tables and counters. The robot has also been seen identifying transparent glass and setting it aside.
In a blog post, Toyota said, “Most robots are programmed to react to objects and geometry in front of them. As a result, they cannot distinguish between the real object and its reflection. That’s why ordinary drinking glasses or shiny toasters make it difficult for robots to do their household chores properly.”
As a result, Toyota has solved this problem through a new training process. In the process, the robot captures its front view in 3D geometry and identifies objects and surfaces.
In this regard, TRI Vice President Max Vajracharya says, “The robot is being prepared to help clean the house and do the household chores. And training and training robots in the home environment pose a special challenge to diversity and complexity, where small tasks can be big challenges. ”
