152 people have been nominated for the ‘Bangladesh Digital Social Innovation Award’, an international award for social innovation using digital technology. The list of final winners will be released from May 26.
The list will be published on the official website of the Digital Social Innovation Forum. The results will also be available on the UN SDG Partnership Platform of the host Bangladesh Digital Social Innovation Forum.
According to the organizers, the application process was officially closed on May 20. This time, 1,008 people from 29 countries have applied in seven categories. Initially, nomination papers have been issued to 152 candidates. Those who have been nominated and are in the process of the 2nd step will have a virtual Q&A session through WhatsApp. The final nominees will then be given final nominations.
The winners will receive scholarships from the UN SDG Academy, UN office trips and part-time contributions to the SDG Global Fest in Germany, as well as the opportunity to work as a social worker in Canada, in addition to fellowships, said Digital Social Innovation Forum President Md. Ali Akbar Asha.
He also said that agreements have already been signed with two popular foundations in the world in this connection.
According to sources, this year’s event will be held simultaneously in Bangladesh and Canada. That date will also be announced in a few days.
The event is co-sponsored by IT partner Highway IT and Canada’s Highway Migrant Services.
To provide logistical support from Bangladesh the Secretary of the Foundation Md. Sharif Mahmud has been working. On the other hand, Ibrahim Hossain, Vice-President of the forum is also working to provide registration and special facilities.
