Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited (BSCCL), a listed company, will export 600 Gbps (gigabytes per second) bandwidth to Saudi Arabia. To this end, an agreement has been signed between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia.
Mashiur Rahman, the managing director of Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited (BSCCL) said that BSCCL has entered into an agreement with Saudi Telecom Company (STC) to export bandwidth.
As a result of this agreement, Bangladesh will receive 3.6 million dollars (about 30 crore taka in local currency) from Saudi Arabia. However, it is for one-time. Apart from this, Saudi Arabia will pay 120,000 dollars to Bangladesh every year for maintenance charges. However, Bangladesh will not receive the maintenance money directly. This amount will be deducted from the amount that Bangladesh has to pay to the consortium for the maintenance of the submarine cable. Saudi Arabia will use this capability from the edge of their country.
Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited (BSCCL) Managing Director Mashiur Rahman confirmed the matter to the media.
