Apple’s main focus in recent times has been on foreign supply chains, with most foreign production and plans to use German silicon. However, the technology giant is also emphasizing the domestic contribution to accelerate the US economy.
The iPhone maker on Monday announced plans to build a new campus in the United States. The campus will be built in the engineering hub of North Carolina. The initiative is part of a five-year plan to boost the US economy by 430 billion.
Apple will invest 1 billion dollars in the site, which includes higher education institutions and research institutes such as North Carolina State University, Duke University and the University of North Carolina. Through the project, Apple will create 3,000 jobs in machine learning, artificial intelligence and software engineering.
The technology giant also wants to create more than 20,000 new jobs in the next five years.
