Even 12 years ago, people had to go to government offices to sign papers, day after day, with the disturbance of red tape. State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Junaid Ahmed Palak commented that the colonial mentality has changed by dint of introduction of the digital government system introduced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The state minister made the remarks at a program titled ‘Journalist Workshop on Digital Bangladesh’ organized by BSS and ATUI on April 26.
Junaid Ahmed Palak said, “Twelve years ago, the government office used to have a lot of files, disturbance of red tapes. If the boss had not come to the office, the file would not have been signed. Files after files were stored in the table. Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has introduced the digital government system in Bangladesh with a whole new idea from that centuries-old concept, that colonial mentality has changed.
Palak said the government’s e-document management has reduced financial costs over time. At the same time, this e-document management has set an example of success in the world.
In his speech, the state minister called upon the local journalists to take initiative in developing digital centers in different parts of the country as well as IT resource persons.
Madhusudan Mandal, City Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Chief News Editor Sajjad Hossain and 72 representatives from different districts of BSS and Adnan Faisal and Mamunur Rashid for a2i were present on the occasion.
