Online retail giant Amazon is standing by India in the wake of the Corona pandemic. The company has announced to send 10,000 oxygen concentrators and BIPAP machines to the country.
According to a report in Siasat Daily, the first consignment is expected to reach Mumbai, India very soon. In addition, most of the shipments are expected to be completed by April.
Amazon has teamed up with ACT Grants, Temasek Foundation, Pune Platform for Covid-19 Response (PPCR) and other partners to do just that. The alliance will work to bring 8,000 oxygen concentrators and 500 BIPAP machines by air from Singapore on an emergency basis.
In addition, Amazon India will procure another 1,500 oxygen concentrators and other vital medical equipment in collaboration with non-profit organizations Swastha, Concern India and ACT Grants and Satva Consulting.
The company said it was working closely with the Indian government to bring these oxygen concentrators and BIPAP machines to India. “We are firm with the country, using our global logistics network to bring the oxygen concentrators needed into the air to support the country’s urgent needs,” said Amit Agarwal, Head of Country and Global SVP of Amazon India.
