Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi expressed optimism saying “Today’s position of e-commerce will reach the doorsteps of people in the next couple of years and will impact 100% on our society and life.” He said so while spoke as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the online sale of Ramadan products during TCB’s service week on Monday.
Expressing gratitude to those who risked their lives to deliver during the pandemic, the minister said, “Those who risked their lives to deliver goods to people’s homes during this corona pandemic have acted as front-liners.”
Last year, 6.5 lakh kg of onions were sold online. As a continuation of that, pulses, oil, sugar and gram will be sold in selected online shops in collaboration with e-Cab under the supervision of the Ministry of Commerce.
Like last time, e-cab will keep their quality uncompromised, said the special guest of the event and Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Md. Zafar Uddin. Last time when the price of onion went beyond the reach of the people in the country, e-Cab came and stood by our side, he added hoped they will do it well again.
Shami Kaiser, President of e-Cab, said that those who are working with e-commerce are giving more importance to the service than profit, adding that e-commerce companies are providing services without looking at profit. As a result, it has been possible to control the price of onion. I hope this new service will benefit the people of the country more.
Director of WTO Cell Md. Hafizur Rahman, Director of TCB Moinuddin Ahmed, Founder of Chaldal and Director of e-Cab Zia Ashraf, General Secretary of E-Cab Mohammad Abdul Wahid Tamal and Additional Secretary, Export-import division AHM Safiquzzaman spoke on the occasion while Asif Ahnaf, Director e-Cab hosted the program.
It is to be noted that the online price of the products will be as, oil at Tk 108 per liter, gram, pulses and sugar at Tk 58 per kg. This price has been taken a little higher from the truck sales of TCB. A buyer can buy a maximum of 5 liters of oil and other products at 3 kgs. The delivery charge is a maximum of Tk 30 in Dhaka and Tk 40 outside Dhaka. However, some companies will not charge any delivery charge at all.
