The 4th International Robo Tech Olympiad 2024 was held at Daffodil International University (DIU) with the participation of 134 teams from 55 educational institutions across the country. The event, which took place at DIU’s Daffodil Smart City in Birulia, Savar, on Saturday, October 19, showcased the technological skills and innovative spirit of young students from various schools, colleges, and universities in Bangladesh.
Organized by DIU’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Robo Tech Valley, the day-long competition featured six categories, including Robo Soccer, Project Exhibition, Line-Following Robot Competition, Idea Presentation, Quiz Competition, and Drone Challenge. The event also included technical sessions and project presentations for participating students. The total prize pool for the competition was BDT 300,000, which was awarded to the winners of the various categories.
During the inauguration, DIU’s Dean of Academic Affairs, Professor Dr. Mostafa Kamal, highlighted the importance of fostering innovation and technical excellence in the younger generation, which he believes will contribute to the country’s overall progress. He stated, “This event will provide insight into the future of education and technology in the country and help shape the next generation of tech-savvy individuals.”
According to Robo Tech Valley’s Chairman, Ahsan Akib, initiatives like this will not only expand technological education in Bangladesh but also make it accessible to people of all ages. He emphasized the unique gathering of technology enthusiasts from diverse age groups at the event.
Prominent figures from the scientific and technological community attended the event, including Dr. Mubarak Hossain Khan, inventor of the environmentally friendly Sonali Bag, Babul Mia, Program Manager of WaterAid Bangladesh’s Universal Access Program, Professor Dr. Ahsan Habib Tarek, Chair of IEEE Computer Society Bangladesh Chapter, Professor Dr. Syed Akhter Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Information Technology at DIU, Professor Dr. Sheikh Rashed Haider Nuri, Head of DIU’s CSE Department, and Professor Dr. S.M. Aminul Haque, Associate Head of the CSE Department, were present among others.
